With over fifteen years' experience working as a freelance musician, I provide a variety of music services and deliver them with insight, expertise and a fully-tailored approach to the specific needs of clients and students. I offer one-to-one tuition in piano, voice (including audition preparation) and music theory from my base in Gateshead, but am also available to travel further afield - I often deliver lessons and workshops on voice training and choir leading across the UK and beyond.
As a pianist I have extensive concert experience as both soloist and accompanist - the latter combined with my vocal work make me a very effective répétiteur, choir leader and music leader. In both my piano and vocal work I am able to deliver a broad and well-informed offering, but of course there are specific interests and specialisms relevant to my own personal interests. As a vocal coach I specialise in music theatre and popular music; as a pianist I have a keen research interest in the Romantic piano music of the nineteenth century and as a choir leader and trainer I am particularly interested in improvisation and devised pieces.
My work also encompasses composition and musical direction, and I am available to direct both classical and theatre ensembles. Show credits as a Musical Director include My Fair Lady, Fame, Grease, Bugsy Malone, and A Night on Broadway. As a pianist in theatre orchestras, shows include Our House, White Christmas, Calamity Jane, 42nd Street, and many more. I am always excited to forge links with new clients and students, and to grow those links I have already established in the North-East. To find out more about how I can help your music department, choir or ensemble or if you are looking to engage a professional and experienced teacher or vocal coach, don't hesitate to drop me a note on or follow the social media links above. I'd love to hear from you.
